Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

• Your assessment answers (the choices you make in QuickDNA or Complete DemocracyDNA).
• Your email address, when you request a report or make a purchase.
• Payment metadata handled by Stripe — we never see or store your full card details.
• Basic technical data (device, browser, IP) needed to serve the site securely.

2. How we use it

• To generate your DemocracyDNA report and email it to you.
• To process payments and provide receipts.
• To improve the assessment methodology in aggregate, anonymised form.
• To respond to support requests.

3. QuickDNA answers

Free QuickDNA answers are stored only in your browser session and are not linked to your identity unless you request a report by providing your email.

4. Third parties

We use the following processors:

• Stripe — payment processing (subject to Stripe's own privacy policy).
• Resend — delivery of report and receipt emails.
• Lovable Cloud / Supabase — application hosting and database.

5. No political profiling or sale of data

We do not sell your data, share it with political parties, campaigns, lobbyists, or advertisers, and we do not build profiles of identifiable individuals for targeting.

6. Retention

Purchase records are retained as required by Australian tax law (typically 5 years). Assessment answers linked to your email can be deleted on request at any time.

7. Your rights

You can request a copy, correction or deletion of your personal data by visiting our contact page. Complaints can also be made to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

8. Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in access-controlled databases. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we apply reasonable safeguards.

9. Cookies & tracking

DemocracyDNA does not use tracking cookies, analytics tools, or advertising pixels. We do not run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, session recorders, or third-party marketing trackers, and we do not fingerprint your device.

The only browser storage we use is strictly necessary to run the site:

• Session storage — holds your in-progress assessment answers, question order and jurisdiction so you can navigate between questions. Cleared when you close the tab.
• Local storage — used only when an administrator signs in, to keep that session active.
• Stripe — sets its own cookies on the payment step to process your purchase and prevent fraud. See Stripe's privacy notice.

Because none of this is used for tracking, marketing, or profiling, no cookie consent banner is required under the Australian Privacy Act or GDPR. If we ever add analytics or marketing tools, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
