DemocracyDNA is committed to making political information accessible to every Australian, including people with disability. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA and consistently improve where we fall short.

What we do

  • Semantic HTML and clear heading structure on every page.
  • Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements, including the assessment.
  • Sufficient colour contrast in both light content and party alignment charts.
  • Descriptive labels on buttons, form fields, and icons.
  • Plain-language helper text under every assessment question.
  • Responsive layouts that work on phones, tablets, and desktops.

Known limitations

  • Some chart visualisations rely on colour; we pair them with numeric percentages so the information is still available without colour.
  • Downloadable PDF reports are generated automatically and may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers. The same content is available on-screen in an accessible format.

We are actively working on these areas.

Assistive technology

The site is tested with recent versions of VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android), and NVDA (Windows) in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. If you use different assistive tech and hit a problem, please let us know — we take that feedback seriously.

Report an accessibility issue

If something is hard or impossible to use, visit our contact page with the page URL, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology and browser you were using. We aim to respond within five business days.

Your rights

Australians have protections against disability discrimination under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth). We treat accessibility feedback as a priority, not a complaint.
